What it means
Permission you give a smart contract to move a set amount of one of your tokens, also called an allowance.
Apps ask for approvals before a swap or a deposit. An unlimited approval to a bad or hacked contract can let it take that token from your wallet later.
How it works
Approve only apps you trust, and only the amount you need.
